A very worrying trend of tiger deaths has been reported in the State of Kanataka over the past 9 months including the siezure last week of a tiger pelt at a town near Mysuru. Over the past 2 years snaring has accounted for the deaths of 4 tigers in the past 2 years.  Of the 11 tigers lost in the last 9 months various reasons including poisoning, snaring, electrocution and infighting over lack of forest territory. Sadly approval has been obtained from India's Supreme Court to shoot to kill a tigress who has 2 cubs in the western State of Maharashtra as it is condidered to be a man-eater. A tigress that was relocated from Bandhavgarh tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh last June has finally been released into the wild at Satkosia tiger reserve to join a male tiger from Kanha tiger reserve that had also recently been released into Satkosia.
