Solar powered pumps are being installed to quench the thirst of tigers and other forest animals in the summer.

At Nagarahole and Bandipur more solar powered pumps are being installed to help fill the water tanks in an effort to help tigers and other forest dwelling wild animals find water during the very hot summer months of the year.  An existing pump at Nagarahole drew 60,000 to 70,000 litres of water to a tank drawing many wild animals including tigers to the site.
