20 November 2011. With a sad heart I have to report on news just received that B2 (seen above in 2010) the well known male tiger of Bandhavgarh has died today following a territorial fight with another tiger. B2 was fourteen years of age and had dominated the Tala range of Bandhavgarh for many years after replacing his Grandfather 'Charger' who he had badly injured in a territorial dispute back in May 2001. B2 was the first tiger that I saw on my initial visit to India in 2001. He leaves behind a dynasty of young tigers that he had sired and in particular the Bamera male tiger who has taken over the mantle of dominant male tiger of the tourist zone. B2 lost but not forgotten. RIP.
