Forest guards in Assam to receive modern weapons to protect wildlife

In an encouraging move to protect and save wildlife including tigers and rhinos forest staff employed to protect animals from poachers are to receive modern weapons to fight poaching of their charges. Assam with 5 National Parks and 19 Wildlife Sanctuaries is home to more than 91% of the endangered One Horned Rhino plus 167 tigers, 248 leopards and many other wildlife varieties.  In addition the State have created 10 wildlife fast-track courts which have been set up to deal exclusively with poaching and other related crimes against wild animals.  More on this most welcome report can be read by following the link below.
