My return to the tigers of Ranthambhore
- Posted
It has been over a year since I last visited Ranthambhore and as always I was excited to return to the 'Land of the Tigers'. I was particularly interested to see Riddhi (T124) again, a tigress I had photographed a number of times in past years. Particularly towards the end of 2023 when I photographed her at the Raj Bagh lake when she arrived finding her three small cubs waiting. Now these three cubs are approximately twenty months old. They are becoming very independent from their mother spending much time together by the side of MalikTala lake where they regularly rest while keeping an eye open for an unsuspecting deer passing by. I also spent time with a second tigress known as Arrowhead (T84) and her three cubs who are approximately twenty months old also. Sadly Arrowhead is not well - she has a tumour on her right hand side flank. However the cubs are looking good and are now able to make a kill which I understand they share with their mother who is no longer fit enough to chase and make a kill herself. I also photographed three large dominant male tigers in different areas of the park and photo's of these magnificent animalls will shortly be seen in the 'Gallery' section of my website.
