Tiger poaching in India highest in seven years.

Depressing figures released on the number of tigers that have been poached in 2013. In all probabilty these figures are on the low side as I feel sure that many such cases have gone undetected by the authorities. In my view the answer to the ongoing problem is threefold. 1. Stiffer custodial sentences to those convicted of tiger poaching. 2. Educating young people on the importance of saving the remaining number of wild tigers-after all the tiger is India's national animal. Thirdly a benefit to local people who live in and around the tigers habitat-by so doing it would encourage villagers to inform the authorities of any poaching activity nearby.  See link below to read the report in The Times of India.
