Trapped wild tigers should be kept out of zoos

A day after a tigress trapped in a coffee plantation at Armad, near Sulthan Bathery, on the fringes of the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, was shifted to Thrissur zoo for treatment, wildlife activists on Monday urged the authorities to discourage translocation of tigers to zoos in Thrissur and Thiruvananthapuram. “Many a time, caging and translocation turn lethal for animals as it can lead to capture myopathy among them.
