Perhaps lack of exercise due the very limited amount of space where he is imprisoned is a factor to these health problems. Walking lengthy distances through the forest as he would normally have done would certainly help solve this condition. In my opinion the time is now well overdue for him to be released back into the wild. See the link below to read the sad story of this magnificent tiger in The Times of India.
