A sleepy young tiger (Panthera tigris tigris)

Back in May 2013 at Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve I was parked very close in my jeep to this young sub-adult male tiger known as 'Sultan'. I had been following the young tiger for almost 1 hour before he decided to rest at a water hole.  After a short while he stretched, yawned and left the water and walked towards my jeep where he sat and lay on the sandy surface and confidently focused his eyes on both my guide and myself.  He had been born to tigress T.39 lso known as 'Noor' and sired by Ranthambhore's well known male tiger T.24 also known as 'Ustad'.
