My return to Spain and Extremadura

My return to Spain and Extremadura

This month October 2024 I was excited to return to the mountainous region of Spain where I had previously visited 2 years ago. I spent 4 days in the region of Extremadura where in its stunning valleys I photographed both the beautiful Bonelli's eagle and the magnificent Golden eagle. I then travelled to the area of Calera where amongst other interesting wildlife I photographed raptors including the Imperial eagle and the Goshawk being the forest raptor. Finally on two occasions I was able ...

10 marvellous days at The Pantanal.

10 marvellous days at The Pantanal.

I arrived at Sao Paulo in Brazil on the 10th September 2024. I then made my way to Cuiaba which is a lage town being the entrance gateway to The Pantanal. I soon settled into my comfortable accomodation situated along the river Cuiaba and the next day had my first boat trip along the many waterways in this magical landscape. During my 10 days I enjoyed numerous Jaguar sightings plus other interesting bird and mammal photography. I will shortly be adding some more of my pictures to this website ...

My return to Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland

My return to Dumfries and Galloway in Scotland

In June 2024 I was excited to return to Scotland and enjoy photographing the marvellous wildlife found in some of the unspoilt forests. A number of the pictures that I took can be found in the 'Gallery' section of this website but I would like to focus on a Badger family that appeared one evening searching for food where I  photograph  them with their reflection in a pool. ...

A very lucky Sambar deer.

A very lucky Sambar deer.

In late October 2023 I was amazed to see a large adult male tiger quietly resting at a dried up river bed while a Sambar deer; arguably his most favoured prey walked close by him with the tiger showing little interest. I could only think that the tiger was already well fed and just wanted to rest-lucky deer! ...

Delighted to return to Ranthambore after 3 years

Delighted to return to Ranthambore after 3 years

In October/November 2023 I was delighted to be able to return to the 'Land of the Tiger' after a 3 year break due to the coronavirus outbreak. My destination was Ranthambhore where I had spent many past years following the fortunes of the tiger families and other interesting wildlife. Of the many lovely wildlife sightings that I enjoyed perhps the most interesting was spending time with tigress Riddhi and her 3 young cubs. This photo shows the tigress with 2 of her 4 month old cubs whi ...

Corona virus has curtailed all my travel plans abroad for 2020

Corona virus has curtailed all my travel plans abroad for 2020

Sadly and along with so many other people my travel plans to India and other countries for 2020 have been cancelled.  My first flight this year in March was scheduled for India where I was to spend 2 weeks photographing tigers and other wildlife at Tadoba Andran Tiger Reserve. This visit was cancelled by the airline about 2 weeks before I was due to fly. 3 other booked flights that were due to follow were also subsequently cancelled.   As much as I would like to make wildlife trave ...

Tadoba Tiger Reserve

Tadoba Tiger Reserve

This was to be my fourth visit to Tadoba where I had always enjoyed very successful wildlife sightings in past years. Once again I was not to be disappointed while during my 10 day stay I saw and photographed 4 different female tigers and 2 male tigers plus other very interesting wildlife. When visiting Tadoba I always hope to see the tigress known as 'Myer' who is now about 9 years of age and known locally as the 'Queen' of Tadoba. Sadly of the 2 cubs from her last litter only ...

Jaguar emerging from its cover.

Jaguar emerging from its cover.

I have just returned home after spending 10 exciting days at The Pantanal photographing over 25 different Jaguars and other indigenous wildlife. During my time at this magical environment I saw many different bird species and mammals including the Giant river otter, Capybara, Caiman, and Howler monkeys.  The photograph shows a Jaguar leaving its forest cover to hunt Caiman and Capybara along the river banks.  ...

Netherlands-August 2019

Netherlands-August 2019

I returned home from the Netherlands on the 28th August having spent 4 days photographing wild birds at a forest setting in the Noord-Brabant district of the country. I was principally there to photograph the Goshawk and I was certainly not disappointed. While patiently waiting in a forest hide I managed to see 2 juvenile female Goshawks' at different times as they devoured a couple of pidgeons and later drank at a reflection pool. There were also a good number of interesting smaller birds ...

Return to the Plains of Hortobagy in Hungary

Return to the Plains of Hortobagy in Hungary

This month with a small group of friends I returned to Hungary where I spent a week photographing some of the many different species of birdlife and fascinating animals including the numerous hares that live in this interesting and beautiful part of Europe. From well sited hides I was able to follow the lifestyle of the wildlife including male Red Footed Falcons and Kestrels as they carefully passed their prey to the females who in turn fed their voracious youngsters that were clamouring for f ...
