On a visit to the park this morning I patiently waited until in the distance and through the forest cover I could see this tigress moving in my direction to a water hole on the opposite side of the track. She is known as Noor or T.39 and is a most beautiful tigress with two small cubs in her care.  ...

Yesterday at Ranthambhore I took this photgraph of tigress T.39 also known as Noor while she was taking a resbite from the heat of the day by cooling herself at a water hole during a break from her cubs that were nearby.  More updates from my time in the park to follow.   ...

Once again this year I have returned to Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve as I was aware that cubs had recently been born to two tigress' in the main tourist zones.  Too date I have not seen the cubs but I have enjoyed excellent sighting of some of the other tigers in the park. My journey to the tiger reserves in the Sunderbans and Kaziranga began when I arrived in Delhi on 16 February and then departed for Bharatpur to visit the bird sanctuary of Keoladeo National Park.  Having spent 2 days photographing the magnificent variety of birdlife there, my onward journey took me to Kolkata where I explored the city. I returned from a short trip to Iceland in December, where I had been hoping to photograph the Aurora Borealis.  This did not come to fruition and It was disappointing for me at my particular site but apparently others in the north of the island were successful.  I was, however,  able to photograph the dramatic Icelandic scenery.   A small selection of photographs from the trip can be seen by following this

My seven day visit to The Pantanal and a subsequent three days at the Iguassu Falls was amazing. At The Pantanal I was lucky to see the rare and endangerd Jaguar each day and on one day my small group saw three different Jaguars. During our visit our small boat stopped along the river at the headquarters of Panthera where we met two senior members of staff who gave us an insight into the important conservation work that they are carrying out in helping to save the Jaguar from this region of Br ...

It was my third visit to this area, Svalbard; a stepping stone enabling me to spend time with wildlife varying from polars bears, walrus, reindeer, Arctic foxes and whales to many different bird species.  The scenery was magnificent with my ship passing huge glaciers and rugged, snowy mountains. I enjoyed my first visit to Scotland in July 2013 where I spent most of my time photographing the Osprey. This bird of prey is superb at diving from the sky to the water below in an effort to catch fish. I took some interesting action photos of the bird as it hit the water and with its fearsome tallons hooked out a trout or salmon from the water.  Many more photos can be viewed in the 'Galler' section of this site.  ...

 I returned home on the 25 May after a successful three week visit to Ranthambhore.  My visit was tinged with sadness over the tragic loss of Sundari (T.17) the tigress that had dominated the area of the lakes and had given birth to three cubs about a year ago. Although not confirmed it appears that she was either poached or killed by villagers. Her former home range has now been taken over by her sister Krishna (T.19) who I saw many times during my visit.
