Tiger relocated from Kanha to Odisha
- Posted
In the past tigers have been relocatated to reserves withinthe same State but this is the first time that a relocation has taken place between two different States. The tiger was tranquilised and then carefully transported to its new home at Satkosia reserve in Odisha's Angul district to help repopulate the State's dwindling tiger population. If all goes well then 5 more tigers will join this tiger in a habitat where it is reported to be an adequate prey population. At present there are two aged female tigers in the 963 sq. km. Satkosia Tiger reserve. 78 families in the core area of the reserve have been relocated to another location. More on the story can be seen by following the link below.
