Tipeshwar wildlife sanctuary being notified at a Tiger Reserve

The current area of this prposed new tiger reserve is approximately 149sqkm and with about a further 40sqkm of adjoining forest without any villages being scheduled to be added where already an existing tiger population resides. There are 10-12 resident tigers at large in the sanctuary.

NTCA guidlines maintain that viable tiger populations and life support ecological systems in natural wilderness areas require a minimum inviolate space of 800-1,000 sqkm to support a viable population based on tiger life history parameters, territory sizes and population viabilty analysis.
