The Paoni Deolapar highway that scrapes by the Pench Tiger Reserve in Maharashtra has pulled the plug on many wild animals ever since it was constructed, with three tigers killed in the last one year on the highway, and one seriously injured on Saturday. India receives top marks for tiger conservation

2 Tigers found dead in Maharashtra

New underpasses needed to stop tigers being killed

The Chandrapur Forest Dept. has requested new underpasses and the clearing of existing blocked ones to save wild animals from being killed by trains in the Brahmapuri-Chandrapur line section. 95 recorded tiger deaths during 2018

According to the National Tiger Conservation Authority's  (NTCA) records to December 15, 2018, there have been 95 cases of tiger deaths in India.  Of this, 41 cases of tiger deaths outside tiger reserves have been reported. Of this number, 14 occurred in Maharashtra, which accounted for over 34% of all deaths outside tiger reserves in the country. A total of 19 tiger deaths were recorded in Maharashtra in 2018, so that tiger deaths outside of tiger reserves comprise more than 70% ...

I enjoyed an excellent 2 weeks in India from the 24th October 2019 where my time was spent at Pench and Tadoba tiger reserves. There were a number of memorable tiger sightings at both reserves but for me perhaps the most interesting was at Tadoba where on 2 ocassions I was privilaged to see and photograph tigress Choti Tara with her 3 small cubs. Tragedy of Tigress T.1 finally shot dead
